To ensure the well-being and safety of participants, Pine Castle developed a state-approved comprehensive training program for its direct care staff. Recognizing that such a valuable resource could benefit other organizations, we’ve opened up our program to outside agency providers as well. In no way is this considered an all-inclusive training program, but in some cases it may prevent the need to travel outside of the area for certain classes. (For additional training information such as state certifications and class requirements, please visit the Florida APD and Delmarva Foundation websites.) We currently offer four provider training programs:
Medication Administration
This class is offered to providers who serve individuals with developmental disabilities living in group-homes, utilizing supported living services and/or receiving in-home support. The program includes 8 hours of instruction and a written exam to satisfy the State of Florida’s Policy Directive 65G-7. Participants will receive a “classroom portion” certificate upon successful completion of the class. (Note: The state also requires participants to obtain a separate Medication Validation. Pine Castle does not offer this portion; please refer to the district-provided list of nurses for information on obtaining validation.)
